Ford fiesta specifications 2011

DEARBORN, U.S.A. - The 2011 Ford Fiesta was released to North American showrooms earlier this summer and one of the car's most impressive features has been the fuel economy Ford has managed to achieve in the automatic version of the car. The new Fiesta has an advanced PowerShift 6-speed automatic transmission that achieves 40 U.S. mpg highway and 29 U.S. mpg city. The automatic's twin internal dry clutch arrangement manages to exceed the fuel economy of the standard 5-speed manual version Fiesta, whose EPA rating is 3 mpg less at a healthy 37 U.S. mpg highway and 28 U.S. mpg city. The 2011 Fiesta is available in a four-door sedan version and a five-door hatchback model (as shown in photo), with the sedan's sticker price starting at $13,995 dollars in the United States.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is powered by a 1.6-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with variable camshaft timing. The engine has a maximum output power of 119 hp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 109 ft-lbs @ 4,250 rpm. Ford has managed to improve the fuel efficiency in the Fiesta's engine by integrating a new electronic speed-sensitive power assist steering (EPAS) system that doesn't create the same drag on the engine that a pulley driven manual system would. Ford says that by 2013 nearly 90 percent of their cars will have the EPAS steering system that is already designed into the new Fiesta.

The North American version of the 2011 Ford Fiesta comes in nine new paint colour schemes, including the colours Bright Magneta, Lime Squeeze, and Blue Flame. For the car's interior, the Fiesta's front seats are bucket type with the rear seat being a 60/40 bench split fold-down type. Available seating trim is either cloth, or leather trim as an option.

For safety, the Fiesta has driver and passenger dual stage front air bags, side air bags, a driver's knee airbag, and side curtain airbags. All passenger seat belts include pretensioners and the 2011 Fiesta comes standard with ESC or Electronic Stability Control.
