Havana.- Representatives from over ten countries will participate in the 2nd "Ignacio Cervantes" International Piano Contest and Festival, scheduled for this month in Havana.
This year's contest is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Cuban pianist, professor and pedagogue Margot Rojas, who was a soloist of Havana's Philharmonic Orchestra and a founder of the "Manuel Saumell" Conservatory and the National Art School.
According to sources from the organizing committee, pianists from Spain, Argentina, Panama and Venezuela, among other countries, have confirmed participation in the festival.
The jury, which includes the Cuban pianist Victor Rodr?guez and Olga L?pez, from Venezuela, among other personalities, will select six finalists, among whom they will choose the winner.
At the final concert, the National Symphonic Orchestra will accompany the contestants, who will play works by Schumann, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Prokofiev, Mendelssohn and Villa Lobos.
